The Bulagtai Restaurant serves Mongolian and Western-style dishes in an authentic oversized ger, similar to those used by great Khans centuries ago.

Fresh vegetables and fruits are harvested from organic farms in nearby Bulgan, a small oasis community built around an artesian well. Because Mongolia is one of the few remaining places where livestock are herded on fenceless, open pastures and eat a wide variety of grasses, shrubs, and herb species, Mongolian meats are organic and some of the freshest in the world.  All dairy products, except pre-packaged cheeses and yogurts, are acquired from local nomadic families and pasteurized onsite.  Purchasing food and supplies locally provides this remote region with opportunities for economic growth through responsible tourism.

Availability of certain foods varies depending on the season; however, you can expect that we will provide the best available selection of local dishes and traditional specialties for the Western palate. In addition, we can make special arrangements for most dietary needs.  Please contact a staff member at the Bulagtai Restaurant to discuss your specific requirements.

Specials, such as picnics or national food delicacies like horhog (meat cooked with hot stones), may be made upon request.  We will also make dining arrangements if you anticipate an early morning or late night departure.  Please contact a staff member at the Bulagtai Restaurant to make these special reservations.  Additional fees may apply.
