Crafting Connection in the Heart of the Gobi

Founded in 2020 by Jalsa Urubshurow, the Workshop at Three Camel Lodge was born during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to preserve jobs and foster creativity. What began as a home-based initiative in soap and candle making has grown into a vibrant studio celebrating Mongolian artistry through handmade crafts.

Each creation, from felt camels and dinosaurs to fine jewelry, embodies the spirit of Mongolia’s resilient culture and timeless connection to nature.

Needle Felting

Our first handcrafted treasures were felt camels, dinosaurs, and the Mongolian Bankhar dog – symbols of the Gobi’s heart and soul. After two years of refining designs, our artisans now produce entirely unique pieces that capture the warmth and charm of Mongolia’s landscapes.

Soap Making

Since 2023, our soap artisans have crafted small-batch, cold-process soaps using organic oils, LYE, and pure essential oils. Each bar cures for 21 days, ensuring rich texture and gentle cleansing.

Current Blends:

  • Juniper Gardenia
  • Juniper Lavender
  • Seabuckthorn Orange
  • Juniper Lavender Shampoo Bar (new addition)

Jewelry

Our jewelry line honors both royalty and tradition.

  • The Queen’s Necklace: created to honor the Queen of Bhutan’s visit, featuring locally polished Bumburuu stone (a form of carnelian) wrapped in handwoven silver inspired by the warmth of the desert.
  • Buddhist Jewelry: crafted from lava stone, Tiger’s Eye, and jade, adorned with sacred motifs:
    • Eternal Knot: union of wisdom and compassion
    • Double Dorje: indestructibility and clarity of mind
    • Prayer Wheel: spreading blessings and harmony across the land
